We are proud of each and every one of our students. Here is a glimpse into what some of our past students have achieved.
"Not sure how to begin writing about Alok Sir but may be I can say he has changed my life - Not just by helping with my applications but mainly because he changed my perspective about my own life, my achievements and my goals. It was great working with him. The way he introspects you and digs you to look at your life , you learn so much about what you really want in life. And that clarity about your own life is what you need in interviews and essays.
Another skill Alok Sir has is how he creates powerful story of your life. He knows how to connect dots and help you understand your own story while forcing you to stay true to the facts and not even exaggerating anything, he helps to bring out your story so that it has much more power and impact even in your own eyes or in the eyes of any reader.
I cannot thank him enough and only way I can give him back is by letting people know how good he is. I wish I could do more. He is most dedicated counselor one can ask for. He might even scold you if you are not on track but all this will help you in long run. He has made me achieve my dream. I am thankful for lifetime"
Ekta Anand, Kellogg, Tepper and ISB
"Alok's ability to look at goals and career aspirations from your lens is remarkable. He encourages you to revisit your post MBA career aspirations and assists you in refining your goals. He did a great job at taking out the best pieces of information from my past life, using them smartly to bring an edge to my applications. Through his 'Know Your Candidate' period, while providing Alok content on my past life, I realized a lot about myself as a person. The regular interactions with Alok made me introspect and understand myself as a working professional and an aspiring MBA candidate.
The college application process is a daunting task and can get monotonous. However, Alok makes it a fun process and often got me out of my shell, just when I was starting to get lax. He has this amazing ability of striking a great rapport with young MBA aspirants, which made my journey exciting and a great learning.
Alok does not have a conventional way of going about college applications. Instead of enforcing his ideas and suggestions, he pushed me to come up with out of box ideas for the essays. He welcomes new ideas and is flexible (and in fact encouraged me) to explore alternative story-lines for each essay - fostering creativity through the essay writing period. He has always been a phone call away, ensuring that the applications were of the best possible quality and that they were submitted on time, even after several iterations"
Vasu Sharma, IE Spain and ISB
"Alok Sir has a great emotional quotient and can read through your stories and get the crux out of it. He is very good at arranging your life in a string of stories and then sewing all of them together to bring out your true personality. Alok Sir figured out my core story, strengths and weaknesses and structured my essays in a way that the best part of my application always came forth. I also am grateful to Sir for the interview prep, as it was not just focused on MBA interviews, but interviews in general. I have learnt immensely about how to present myself at an interview and about what are the expectations from any interviewer.
Overall, Alok Sir was very instrumental in creating my applications and I wouldn't have achieved what I did without him"
Tanay Rajpurohit, Georgetown McDonough
"I came to Alok sir mid-way in application stage while I was preparing for interviews for Wharton, Booth and the IIMs. Looking back, I feel the amount of personalized attention I received from him was instrumental. The most important stage for me was the KYC where Alok sir spent hours trying to get to know me better by asking about my profile, my ambitions and my background. We spent time discussing what I wanted to do, why I wanted to do it and then put in perspective of an MBA. I must admit, I was a little skeptical earlier on how just discussing these aspects would help me and wanted to get down to doing mock interviews. But, now having successfully converted all my interviews into offers (with Wharton, Stern and IIM A,B & C), I have realised that those discussions with Alok sir were key as they helped me understand myself better. Once you get to know yourself better, it makes the interview a much more likeable process as you are speaking about things you are clear and confident about. This clarity is automatically picked up by the assessor interviewing you and the they gets to know that they are having an honest conversation with someone clear about his/her goals.
Secondly, I am very thankful to Alok sir on the amount of self-confidence he instilled in me. I noticed a big change in my confidence levels for the interviews I attended after having mock sessions with him versus those (Booth & Sloan) prior to me meeting him. Just understanding that not every question has to be right, that an interview is the entire 30 minute discussion and not just about getting a few questions right or wrong and that the assessment is about the manner in which one answers were key points of learning for me.
I will always remain thankful to sir for his guidance, his personalized feedback and his skills in instilling confidence."
Manu Gulati, Wharton, Stern, IIM A,B,C
"Mr Mangal (though he has always insisted I call him Alok) has been my biggest critic and supporter in the run up to admissions. His approach is different from others in that he helps in bringing out the best version of YOU on paper, compelling you to stay true to yourself rather than try & create an "ideal profile" (I doubt there is such a thing). There is no formula, no standard "tried and tested" approach but conversations & introspection which helped me better understand my own goals and articulate them with utmost clarity. Moreover, the process isn't myopic - it has helped me think through long term plans and how to use an MBA to better achieve my own targets - critical both from the perspective of an application/interview as well as that of building my career. For this reason and the fact that he is extremely fun to work with (though I did get some pointed mails when I became lax), I would highly recommend working with Mr Mangal if you're planning on doing an MBA in the near future. "
Aparajita Kapoor, Harvard Business School
"Mr. Alok has been a mentor and a guide for me, helping me throughout my journey to getting admission into my dream B-school. He put in time and effort not only to help me identify my life 'story' and bring clarity to my thoughts, but also to get to know me personally. This has helped me better identify my strengths and weaknesses and has helped me understand myself a lot better. Since he has immense experience in interviewing MBA candidates, his inputs were crucial in helping me clear my interview. Overall, it was fun working with him and I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Alok to any MBA candidate looking for help."
Abir Banerjee, ISB
"Applying to B-school is a long and tedious process, and Alok Sir has had a huge role to play at every step. Whether it was helping me introspect to find stories that would form the essence of the application essays, brainstorming to reform career goals or working to enhance the resume, he has always been an extremely patient and helpful mentor. He helped me see new perspectives and gave useful suggestions. I am extremely thankful to him for his insights and encouragement."
Sailee Rane, IIM Ahmedabad
“Get your MBA has played a vital role in helping me secure admissions to my dream university – Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. The structured approach of Mr. Alok Mangal in analysing my profile before starting my final essays helped me decide the b-schools I should apply to, identify my strengths and weaknesses and come up with a game plan for the overall application besides helping me write the individual essays.
I had applied to B-schools before but could not get a call. After engaging GetyourMBA I could see a huge difference between my previous and my present application. I appreciate his technique of not actually writing essays for candidates but giving valuable feedbacks on what I am doing wrong.
The mock interview sessions conducted on Skype gave the finishing touches in preparing me for the final step. Apart from the applications his suggestions for my career were also extremely helpful.
I am really thankful to GetyourMBA for their help.”
Manish Agarwal, ISB
“Mr. Alok's input was absolutely critical to my success in the application process. He really helped me refine my essays and made sure that my "story" was coming out in a succinct yet compelling way”
Rahul Mangla, ISB
“Before meeting Mr. Alok, I wasn't sure if an application advisor would be helpful. However, on a friend's recommendation I decided to give it a shot. I was amazed to see how Mr. Alok was great at helping me identify my own strengths through multiple discussions. Needless to say, this reflected in my essays and now I'm off to Darden!”
Sumat Mittal, Darden
“getyourMBA helped me structure my thoughts that made the application process so much easier. The application process requires a lot of introspection and thinking about how one has reached where he/she is at the moment, and where one wants to go in life. Mr. Alok's help was invaluable in making this process not only easier, but even fun!"
